Which Free Zone is best for me?
It depends on what you’re doing, who your customers are, and your tax position. IFZA is often best for cost-sensitive single-shareholder setups. DMCC for established trading. DIFC/ADGM for regulated financial activities and family offices. JAFZA/DAFZA for logistics and physical goods. Mainland DED when you need to sell to UAE consumers. We make a written zone-selection recommendation as the first deliverable — before you commit to anything.
How long does setup take?
For IFZA, typically under two weeks from signed engagement to licence in hand, plus another 2–3 weeks for visa processing. For other Free Zones, allow 3–5 weeks depending on the zone. Mainland setups typically take 4–6 weeks. Bank account opening adds another 2–4 weeks on top, running in parallel.
Can you really set up in any Free Zone, or just IFZA?
Any Free Zone. We’re an IFZA Strategic Partner so we handle IFZA directly — faster, cheaper. For every other UAE Free Zone (DMCC, DIFC, ADGM, JAFZA, DAFZA, Meydan, SHAMS, SRTIP, RAKEZ, Fujairah Creative City, and others) we arrange formation through established partnership channels. You get the right zone, not just the zone we have a direct deal with.
Do I need a UAE partner or sponsor?
No. 100% foreign ownership is available in every UAE Free Zone and in mainland for the vast majority of commercial activities. The old local-sponsor requirement for mainland has been removed for most activities — a short list of strategic activities still has specific rules. We confirm the position for your specific activity at the Discovery Call.
What’s the difference between Free Zone and mainland?
Free Zones give you a UAE licence with specific tax advantages (particularly the QFZP 0% CT regime for qualifying income) but restrict your ability to sell to UAE mainland customers. Mainland (DED) gives you full UAE market access, including local retail and B2B, but you’re on the standard 9% CT regime from the first dirham. The right choice depends on who your customers are — and increasingly, many businesses use both (a Free Zone for international/holding, mainland for local sales).
How does the UAE residence visa work?
Once your Free Zone or mainland licence is issued, you qualify for an investor or partner residence visa linked to the entity — typically 2 years (renewable) for standard Free Zones, longer for premium zones and investor categories. The process involves an immigration file at the Free Zone, an e-channel application, a medical, biometrics for Emirates ID, and visa stamping. Family dependant visas (spouse, children) can be sponsored once your own visa is issued.
What about Golden Visa?
The 10-year Golden Visa is available under specific categories — investors (property above AED 2m, business investment, public investment), specialists, entrepreneurs, students, humanitarian pioneers. It’s a separate application from the normal investor/partner visa and the eligibility review is specialist. We make introductions to UAE immigration lawyers for Golden Visa applications where you qualify.
Can I open a UAE bank account?
Yes — but UAE bank opening is harder than it looks. Banks assess activity, nationality mix of shareholders, expected volumes, source of funds, and the quality of your supporting documents. Our bank introductions are to relationship managers who know us, which measurably shortens the process and raises the approval rate. Expect 2–4 weeks typical, 6–8 for complex cases.
I’m already set up in the wrong zone — can you fix it?
Often, yes. We handle re-domiciliations, trade transfers to a new entity, winding down the old shell, and consolidating activities — without losing continuity of client relationships, bank accounts or visas (where possible). It’s a bigger engagement than a fresh setup but almost always worthwhile when the current zone doesn’t serve the tax outcome.
Do you handle UAE Corporate Tax and VAT after setup?
Yes — and we strongly recommend bundling them. Many of our setup clients continue with us for ongoing CT and VAT compliance, QFZP annual reviews, bookkeeping and advisory. One team, one engagement, consistency from day one.
